How to make Neverputt work in Slacko 5?

#1 Post by TrailerTrash »

Puppy is great... but I wish I were smart enough to make all the programs which are offered in the various repositories actually work as advertised. I'm not.

If I could manage to make Neverputt work in Slacko 5, or in any other Puppy for that matter, I'd delete every other Linux OS from my system and use Puppy frugals exclusively. Only one time has Neverputt run but it was jerky like the graphic drivers had problems. So many repository items will download and show up on menus, and there they stop.

I don't want to get bogged down in the intricacies and finer points of dependency management but if anyone has beat this and made Neverputt actually work nice and fast the way it does on other distros then how about sharing with me?

Seems like with computers they never quite make it to 100%. Despite all the human minds ready and waiting to fix stuff there is always at least one more darned thing that needs tweaking.

Any help???

hi TrailerTrash

this neverputt is working for me in both slacko and lucid puppy (i have an nvidia card)

you'll need to install your graphic drivers. in slacko click on slickpet (lucid quickpet), then drivers, then test, and install what it suggests.

note in slacko you may also need to install mesa from the PPM
