Streamingsoundtracks and KQED

#1 Post by atc »

Where can I find the apprpriate media player and codecs to play streamingsoundtracks.com? I've tried mplayer and installed its related codec pack from dotpups.de, but that doesn't seem to work.

Also, the public radio station that I usually listen to is at www.kqed.org. The gxine media player doesn't get past the advertising section in the streaming version of this radio. I've tried real player, but it is very unstable. Can't use mplayer and its codec pack.

made just a quick test.

went here:
http://streamingsoundtracks.com/

clicked at the left side on 64k ogg, and saved that file to the harddisk:
http://streamingsoundtracks.com/Ogg-hi.m3u

Then opened it in xmms, and can hear it.

Just out of curiosity, from where did you get the Real Player you tried, and how did you install it? I downloaded it straight from real.com and installed it according to their instructions and it seemed to work fine. However that was several versions of Puppy ago. I haven't tried it lately.
