Sorry to be late to announce this to this forum.
The Japanese team have released the 'Puppy Linux 431JP returns 2012' on 15 March 2012.
This is an updated version based on the Puppy Linux 4.3.1JP(Japanese edition).

Mainly in Japanese, but also Japanese/English bilingual. Other language are supported with the lang_pack.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=51702
Try this if you interested in the Up-to-Date Puppy-4.3.1.

See the Release Note for the detail.

Additional note:
1. If your HDD has Puppy 4.x original installed and you want to keep it, run the 431JP2012 with 'RAM only mode', you can find at the 'Advanced menu'.

2. 431JP2012 has drivers cut down. If your hardware is working with the original 431, try the full set drivers.
http://openlab.jp/puppylinux/download/p ... 431305.sfs
(But it is better to find newer driver for the kernel 2.6.30.5, if available.)

3. Seamonkey-2.9.1-en.sfs for english users.

1. Country setup

Booting up your PC from this live CD, hopefully automatically starts up the desktop with 800x600 screen size. A GUI dialog for the first setup appears. You may need to change the settings of language, timezone, keyboard layout, and screen size if you want to. Timezone and keyboard is initially set to JST (Japan) and jp(JP106/Japanese) keyboard. Language is initially in Japanese. You can choose at the same dialog. Another languages support are provided by the additional sfs files.

If the PC failed to startup the desktop, try 'Safe mode' at the bootup option. Select 'Advance menu' > 'Safe mode' from the bootup menu(it may be frendly interface thanks to the Grub4Dos) by using up and down arrow keys. You will we asked your keyboard layout and offered to start 'xorgwizard' at the last of the boot up proccess.

The network connection is to be automatic in case eth0 interface found and DHCP is available. You need to connect the LAN cable before booting up Puppy.
Did that -
But how can i get an English SeaMonkey?
The web pages are in English but SeaMonkey itself is in Japanese?
if i can find seamonkeys settings.......
I'll find it sooner or later.. :D

This is my next puppy! :D
Tell the Team - Well Done :D

@Don570

From links site-
You might say, well I prefer Mozilla . . . but just imagine your X is broken and you have to download a file to fix it and install it. Links might just prove itself in that kind of situations.
I use CLInet, Links and MC just for that reason.

Just posting this so I can get it on my watch list. Does anyone know how to put a topic onto the watch list without posting a nothing reply like this? I am keen to keep an eye on this topic. Thx.

I have posted to this link here a few times.

""""""

The only gripe is to edit >> Seamonkey

to be read >> in English.

I know that it's in

Edit >> Preferences >> lNavigator >> Languages

then select >>

but it's a bugger to find.

Maybe a pet to fix it.

But otherwise I quite like it.

Chris.

Greengeek? after the last post on every page you'll see a "Start Watching Topic". If you're logged-in all you need do is click upon that and you'll be logged to watch the topic without having to post in the thread. :) Also: After you begin watching there'll be an option there where you may click to log out from that topic at any time as well.

I hope this helped?

+1 Eyes-only :)
greengeek - I would have missed this and other "hidden" features without selecting 'automatic login' whenever I stalk the threads...

Thanks. I have no idea how I missed seeing this feature. I have looked, and looked, and looked and not seen it till now.

I can't figure out why I haven't seen that watch feature before today - pretty sure most of my forum surfing is when I am already logged in. Oh Well. Time to go sober I guess.

Just tried this on my Toshiba TE2100 (which has original 4.3.1, Slacko53, MijnPup, etc working perfectly) but was not able to establish wireless connection. ("WPA did not associate").

Haven't seen this before so don't really know what to look at or what info to post. Will check other forum posts to get some clues.

So glad I could be of service greengeek & Puppyt especially seeing that there's so very little that I am able to do now at this stage of the game for me. It's always a major victory for me whenever I'm able to assist anyone in some way possible, no matter how small that might be - even if it's showing them the way to the loo/brick dunnie around here ( which BTW is located over there ---> ) LOL!!

Take care folks and have a super-great day. ( Sorry for robbing the thread mates! )

Cheers/Amicalement,

Eyes-Only

I tried Shino's suggestion of using the full driver set, and now the wireless works. All I had to do was to download from the link he provided, then moved that zxxxxxx.sfs file into my 431JP frugal folder and reboot.

Hi Shinobar,

after I installed 431JP2012 I experienced problems with lost disk space. I do not blame 431JP2012 - I probably did something wrong - but I did end up with damage to my previous installation of 4.3.1 (Barry's original version).

It looks as if my original 4.3.1 became "tangled" with the localisation of the 431JP2012 and this has affected my desktop background and helpfile (maybe other features - I don't know yet).

Anyway, I urge caution if 431JP2012 is being installed alongside a previous 4.3.1 install. Run fsck first, and make sure there is plenty of disk space for new savefile.

Details of my problem here:

FYI:
told me it cannot find my desktop background image.
ok - I get this in full hard drive install too.

Right after i boot into the fresh install - It losses its background and gives error.
It just an miss setting for Rox - from remastering ?
Just had to reset the background - The .jpg was still there. :D

So the background problem is unrelated ?
Not an major bug.
