Hi koollepup,
kooliepup wrote:...and am trying to locate a compatible wxPython for it to run....
did you at least get a working Python+wxPython running?
if yes would you mind give more details on how you did?
Are you aware of this:

Thanks for answer!

Hi Charlie,

After only 3 days I had forgotten about this little diversion. Life has got in the way.

I located the correct matching wxpython, but something is still missing.
I will try your suggestion. All suggestions appreciated.
I know nothing about Python, and always have this trouble when getting something new together that needs it.

Will report back.

I guess we need some input from a python programmer, with an interest in Reprap and puppy linux distros!

It rained this morning, so I got this done.
Sfact and Skeinforge are included.
Anything else to go in before I do an ISO?

Don't know if it is appropriate or not, but Warz 522.08 included a program to design electronic PCBs. I think it was called qelectrotech electric diagrams editor or something.

I have Qelectrotech, and it is a great program, but maybe not useful to most RepRappers.
Let's see what Lucastar thinks.

I've just been browsing around for a Live CD suitable for reprapping, and fortunately I ran across this thread. I would **love** to see a reprapuppy -- I could actually use it right now, because I can't get the gcode sender to work on this borrowed Win7-64 laptop and I need to demo this thing at a school this week. :/

Wouldn't USB-to-serial drivers be required as well? I know that two of the commonly used ones are CP2102 and FTDI:

I went back and read this thread in more detail. I should point out that a new and updated version of Slic3r was released on the 29th -- it looks like maybe the day after you added it. There are a lot of new features in this version, so I'd recommend updating that if you haven't already. The other app I would suggest is Inkscape with the Unicorn GCODE output extension, and possibly even the Eggbot extensions because those projects are so closely related. Inkscape is very helpful for rendering curves and text as DXF for import into OpenSCAD. Lucastar, if you haven't used it, slic3r is very capable and -- as you say -- *very* user friendly. It and skeinforge are night and day.

kooliepup, you can consider self-sourcing your machine, too. I did it recently for US$300 total with a little work. Some details on that here: http://www.thefrankes.com/wp/?p=2617

Thanks 4 that.
I have added all those.

Investigating your suggestion of DIY.

Also some new machines just released locally.

Hmm, I'm not sure.

I think that an electronics developer might like it, but I think that an everyday reprap user would find this irrelevant.

I also think that getting into a 2 disc series - [Reprapup -Dev] and [Reprapup - User] might be over the top!

I would suggest not adding Qelectrotech at this stage, but maybe look at making a .pet file to install it in the future might be a good compromise?
Does it open 'eagle' files? That seems to be the format most people post electronics in...

Yes, fairly essential - I guess so - forgot those...

I have tried Slic3r - and (in my opinion) it still has a little way to go before it it a direct replacement for skeinforge/sfact, but there is no reason that it can't run standalone...

The inkscape/eggbot thing? I never would have thought about it... do many people use it? I like the idea if it is easy to implement and doesn't make the disc size swell too much!

Kooliepup - approx what size is the disc? - It would be better if we kept it CD sized rather than DVD....

Lucastar: The eggbot-related extensions are really rather trivial -- maybe a few K), but Inkscape in general is good to have on hand if you work with OpenSCAD -- regardless of why you use it. It's an awesome piece of software.

Inkscape is very definitely worth having in.
I will check if Qelectrotech opens Eagle files, if so I will include it.

We are still looking at under 500MB, I think, with everything that is in now.

It won't become a DVD.

Edit: Qelectrotech doesn't open Eagle files, unless I am missing something.

I've never bonded with Inkscape or really tried to learn OpenSCAD, but I know a lot of people like these.

Didn't realise people were using them because they play well together for 3d though..

If Inkscape can be added correctly by running a .pet file, could we put the eggbot extensions in now, ie: "inkscape ready", and not include inkscape or would it need setting up after the install?

... or is that a recipe for disaster?

I really don't have a problem with inkscape... I'm just thinking aloud....

as for pcb generation, lower part of this page:

For PCBs, I like KiCad personally, but I think it's probably farther outside the scope of reprap than Inkscape is.

I'm surprised Fritzing isn't on that list, though. That's the one they seem to like over at arduino.cc -- probably because it's also a Processing app. It's like PCB design made easy. It's not as powerful, but quite easy to use. I've actually made PCB with both of them.

I think the time has come to get an ISO out.
We could keep coming up with possibilities, and end up with a 2-DVD set.

I have included Eagle and made an ISO, which is 566MB.
Have made a CD and tested it all.
Everything works fine, as far as I can tell, not having access to a machine.

It's up to you guys now to see if it is useful.

Upload them here.

" How can I verify my account at 4shared.com?

Upon the creation of your 4shared account, you will receive
an e-mail with a verification link.
To confirm the verification of your account, you only need to
click on this link.

Having clicked on the link, your web browser will open with a
notification, that your 4shared account has been verified.

In case nothing happens after you click on the verification link,
you need to copy & paste it in your web browser.

In case you haven’t received an e-mail with a verification link,
please, check the Spam folder at your e-mail account.

How long are my files stored?

Your free account and all your files will only be removed from
4shared if you don’t log into your account for 180 days.

This is a list of the most popular types of files that can be shared:

Document files (doc, txt, pdf, rtf, xls)
Music files (mp3, ogg, wav, mid)
Video files (avi, mpg, mpeg)
Image files (jpg, gif, bmp, png)
Zip files (zip, rar, arj)

Are there any limitations on the number of files,
or size limit on files that can be uploaded per user?

You may upload as many files as you like,
but they must fit within your virtual drive space.
The space limit is 15 GB per account.

Currently 4shared sets a 2048 MB size limitation per file.
Your files must not exceed the limit, or they will be rejected.

If the size of a file is more than 2048 MB, you can split the file into smaller parts and upload them separately using the
Multi-upload feature.

Well Done Kooliepup! :)

I just got myself a my mydrive account, and It just says 'You don't have the necessary permissions to access this page'.

If you make me a guest user, username: Lucastar1 with read only permission, Then I can get hold of the file without you using more of your 5gb...

I get the same login request with 4shared, when I tried to d/l http://www.4shared.com/file/7sqsvU0p/klp-006.html

Could the iso be added to a dropbox account? -although I'm not sure how much bandwidth dropbox allow for d/l's, but I have a 6gb dropbox...

I just tried Fritzing.
What a fabulous little program.

I can't upload the ISO again, as it is more than 10% of my monthly data allowance.

The only option for anyone to get it before this time next month is if I change the password on mydrive, someone d/l it and hosts elsewhere, and I change the p/w back after.

I would prefer it to be hosted on one of our servers. (our=Puppy)
