#1 Post by bodobob »

Hallo,

I would suspect that this is the Firefox cache filling up.

Try opening the browser, and clearing the cache.

If that doesn't free up a bunch of space, open a terminal window and try using "du" to see which folders are eating the space.

Regarding file storage, I like to store files in /mnt/home (the drive partition where your save file is stored). Typically if you have downloaded something, and saved it there, Firefox will remember this location.

You can also create a symbolic link in /root/ to your preferred download location. And you can create a shortcut link that shows up in the left side of the window, when asked where to save the file.

If you open the folder /mnt/ you can also drag a shortcut to /mnt/home/ to the desktop.

try using "du" to see which folders are eating the space

*
Frage 2 : code : " pman mount" in terminal/rxvt

You're looking for MB scale files/folders, so perhaps:

Code: Select all

du -h | grep M
(the "-h" means "human readable", so it reports sizes in "k", "M", "G")

Another place to look is in /var/. I print that print jobs sometimes leave junk in the folder.

boote pfix=ram , oeffne rxvt terminal , tipp dies :

Code: Select all

mkdir /mnt/sdb1
mount /dev/sdb1 /mnt/sdb1

Code: Select all

 e2fsck -n -f -v /mnt/sdd2/racysave-two.3fs

Code: Select all

e2fsck -f -v /mnt/sdd2/racysave-two.3fs
HTH

Eigenschaften meines Desktop- Links:
Klick auf das Symbol öffnet:
/mnt/sda2/LinuxDokumente
Zu übergebender Parameter:
drive ntfs
Text unter Symbol:
LinuxDokumente

So the Mozilla Firefox folder is eating 108 Megs. Including some "crash reports". Firefox tends to be large, so this isn't overly surprising. But you could probably dump the crash reports (recovering 26MB).

Code: Select all

107M ./my-applications/bin/jre1.6.0_21
107M ./my-applications/bin
107M ./my-applications
And "my-applications" is eating 107 Megs, which is sitting inside the save file.

If you wanted, this stuff could probably be moved outside the save file (say to somewhere on /mnt/home), then symbolically linked back to the /root/my-applications folder).

If the tree jre1.6.0_21 contains any symbolic links, you'll want it on a linux compatible partition. If it doesn't, it can sit pretty much anywhere.

You could:

1) in /mnt/home/ create a folder "puppy528" (or whatever version you are running -- this may already exist, which is even easier).

2) drag/move the jre folder into /mnt/home/puppy528/

3) drag/symbolic link the jre folder back into /root/my-applications/

4) now that 107MB lives outside the save file, but acts as if it is inside.

Those 2 operations would gain you about 130 MB in your save file.

Also, some people have noted that /root/.cache sometimes fills up (thumbnails from viewing photos, etc).

The Usb- Stick- System should be stay move- able.

Also, some people have noted that /root/.cache sometimes fills up (thumbnails from viewing photos, etc).
Werde ich untersuchen...

@wuwei

Was willsten noch alles wissen? laptop? IP? :P
Hab da keine großen GEHEIMNISE. Rest steht oben :D

Was mir noch einfällt:

Meiner geht so:

1. In /etc/fstab eintragen:

Code: Select all

/dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1 auto
/dev/sda2 /mnt/sda2 auto
/dev/sdb1 /mnt/sdb1 auto
2. in/etc/rc.d/rc.local eintragen:

Code: Select all

mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1
mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sda2 /mnt/sda2
mount -t ntfs-3g /dev/sdb1 /mnt/sdb1
bzw. angepaßt an deine Plattengeometrie.
