Avidemux 2.5.6 pet

#1 Post by rmcellig »

Is there a pet for the latest version of Avidemux? I need this version because there are issues I am having with previous versions and the developer tells me I need the latest version. The issues are syncing problems after saving a snippet from a video. Apparently this is fixed in the latest version.

While I am at it, is there anything in the Puppy world that would allow me to do the same thing as Avidemux? All I need to do is save snippets of video from video files (avi and mp4) and then save the snippets as .mov files

Thanks!!!

Which version did the developer recommend? There's a 2.6 (experimental?) branch that seems to be recommended quite a bit on the AVIDemux forums, and by some of the developers.

I'm not sure how well anything supports the MOV container under Linux (even AVIDemux), but that's mostly because I've rarely ever worked with Quicktime/MOV formats.

The developer mentioned 2.5.6 as the one to use. Can this one or any of the latest ones in the branch work with Puppy Linux? If so, how do I go about installing it?

What format do you use instead of .mov? I think my problem is that I am coming from the Mac side being a long time Mac user just discovering Puppy Linux and loving it.

shinobar has pets and sfs files for AVIDemux 2.5.3 (Puppy 4) and 2.5.5 (Puppy 5), so 2.5.6 will probably run just as well as those do, if someone provides a pet for it. :)

I do a lot of video work (not that I'm claiming to be any sort of expert), but if I had to list the containers I work with the most... probably AVI, MKV and MP4. And that holds true even on my Mac. :D

Thanks Makoto!

Do you use something other than Avidemux to extract video snippets, maybe something I have overlooked?

Hopefully someone will have a pet for Avidemux 2.5.6.

I do... but actually, I do most of my video-related work in Windows. (Not out of any preference to the OS, but because our main system (Windows) in the house has the most hard drive space, RAM, best CPU, and burners of any system here. )

Edit: wonder if OpenShot might work. I'm sure there are others...
