Skype installed but won't start

#1 Post by Jpupuser »

Hello, I just tried installing Skype using pupget, and everything seemed to go well. It installed successfully, and then I had to install qt.3... (something) library, and that installed successfully as well. Then I rebooted and tried to run Skype. But when I try to open it from the menu, nothing happens! What should I do?

I have no experience with skype, but in general:

run from a consolewindow to see errormessages, and post them here.

in your case, try simply
skype

Or look in /root/.jwmrc , what command is used by the menu to run skype.
These errors might give hints on missing libraries, post them here please.

yeah, the command is "skype" . But when I type it in the console window, it just says:

"Bus error"

What should I do?

I think there may be a missing library. Try putting skype in the forum search. I don't think there are too many entries.

I've have the same problem as Jpupuser. Installed the skype.pup package then went to menu to run. Nothing happened. I'm not sure what is going on.

Maybe this will fix it. I haven't tried it in Puppy 2.x.

Ok, I got it to work. I first installed the qt.3.3.4 library via pupget. Then i restarted the laptop. Next I installed skype via pupget. Again I rebooted. This time It worked like a charm. I tried it twice to make sure it works[on another machine].
