Dillo is dead. :(

#1 Post by Gnuxo »

I was going around Softpedia and I came upon a browser called D+, and right in the title it said:
"Formerly called Dillo"

...And I have to ask why.

Dillo is a good name, why call it D+?

I really don't think Dillo is dead.

Hmm, here's an example reason: one guy typed it the wrong way here and it suddenly became a s3x object (try replacing the second L with D).

D+ is a fork of Dillo. It works well cross-platform (unlike Dillo). It looked fairly cleanly coded when I was going through and looking at the source. (Much easier to find things in the D+ source code than it was to do so in the lynx source code.) I prefer programs that run well on multiple operating systems, because I use multiple operating systems for different circumstances. Am using D+ on some of my machines now and hope to build and have it running on all of them. If you're looking for a lightweight, cross-platform browser, I'd recommend trying it.

I'm not a coder but lmemsim, if you can do it and make a pet, I'd use it.
...But I don't know if Dillo is still being actively developed.
D+ would be interesting to try for sure.
