has anyone reported the mount problems associated with gaining access to CIFS resources.

In other words, "mount -t cifs -o ...." does not and has not worked in 600. Never could connect to the NAS units with 600.

Also, the SAMBA included is 4 years old???

Other than those 2 -3 obvious items, the distro appears clean.

I did NOT remaster because of the current issues I found. Thought it best to wait.

Here to help

Works for me to both Windows and Linux shares. Are you connecting through the Share folder on the desktop?

My Android tablet can connect to the Fatdog Samba server.

I downloaded and installed the 600 final to a flash after burning it to a dvd.
The checksum for the devx didn't match, maybe it was still uploading?
Will try again in the morning.
The nvidia pet works good.

Unfortunately, no. That's one of the main premises of Fatdog (and almost all puppies) - the basic operating system files are immutable, ensuring ability to do a quick restore when necessary.

Probably, which site you get the devx from? The one from ibiblio is bad, I'm going to remove it.

If Fatdog is inadvertently run on a 32bit machine, the 'wrong machine' message doesn't show up until the initial booting sequence is complete!
Otherwise - masterful, thanks.
Thank you for the kind words Smile

Boot process is a little slow, but the apps are very fast.
That's because Fatdog64 uses humongous initrd by default. You may want to try the "unofficial" small-initrd version of final.

Fatdog600 final is here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=79537

Thanks for the Firefox version of FD64 600.
Much appreciated that Q5sys and smokey01 provide space for the iso.

I wonder about this small and big initrd thing.
The big initrd do boot very fast on my netbook
from the HD but if I remember one need the small
initrd.gz on CD/DVD or even on USB? And maybe
add the waitdev=5 or similar to allow the USB to stabilize?

So for internal HD one can trust that the big initrd works best?
