TV dongle working
I have a Kaiser-Baas TVStick running under 528. Goes OK without wine. I use Xine to watch TV. I had to compile the driver for model 1008. Apparently, model 1007 (netbook version) already has linux drivers. You have to search the net for a channels.conf file for your area. Good antenna is vital.
tv usb dongle in WINE
Hi
I use tv dongles in Puppy linux using programmes such as xine and MPlayer. I also use Mythtv as a PVR, with usb dongles although that is not on Puppy Linux. As I understand it WINE does not interact with the surrounding hardware and could not use your dongle. WINE is excellent for playing Microsoft Windows games or Word programmes since these are software activities. I am interested and will watch others responses to your query.
Best of luck

There are at least two threads about TV dongles.
Member Mercedes have one and there is another.
Use search in my signature. I don't remember but
the brand Hauptpauge or similar name where one of them.
Maybe one thread mention mythTV or similar name.
I have a hauptpauge that I want to get going.
But I am too lazy just now to add to the thread
I know nothing but like you I do want to know.
Wikipedia have info too.
search for dvbt or similar names. And user Mercedes.

how small?
If you want a ridiculously small USB DVB
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sandberg-Mini-D ... B003JDS1QA
This works with most flavors of Puppy. Also have a old Twinhann that works just as well.
Mostly used for listening to the DVB radio.

a little bit of knowledge and I'm dangerous
I have compiled VLC-2.0.1 with dvb and Hauppage ivtv pvr support...in Dpup Exprimo. Succesfully tested now. You need to find out needed firmware for your stick though.

Thanks Pemasu
I downloaded latest Dpup exprimo and all the otehr stuff
But most likely I am not intelligent enough to know how
to set such things up. So I will read this thread and see
if he get his dongle going and learn from that?
I don't want to steal the thread. My USB TV is a

Re: TV dongle working
oz - I have a Kaiser Baas TXStick also but am not having much luck finding a driver. I'm sure I saw something yesterday on linuxtv but can't see it today. I think I have the firmware (dvb-usb-dibusb-6.0.0.8.fw or similar). Even if I found the source I don't think I'd have much success in compiling it. I have lupu528.005 (and slacko533)ozsouth wrote:I have a Kaiser-Baas TVStick running under 528. Goes OK without wine. I use Xine to watch TV. I had to compile the driver for model 1008. Would you be able to give me have some advice re this matter - ie what is the right driver, what else I might need?
btw I'm in Melbourne.

KB1008 driver for 528 with cut-down Xine
I've now made a tar.gz with the driver & cut-down Xine & channels conf for Melb.
Best to try on a live CD to protect your current system.
copy kbxs.tar.gz to / folder.
then, from a terminal, run:
cd /
tar -zxvf kbxs.tar.gz
depmod
modprobe dvb-usb-rtl2832u
fixmenus
Plug in tv dongle & after about 10 sec,
run Xine & click dvb.
Should see channel 7 after about 10 sec.

Re: Working TVstick
Nice to hear, Grump. Good antenna is vital for TV. Dick Smith Elecs sold amplified rabbit ears for $29.99 recently. Just OK.

TV in LUPU
I found enough info to get TV tuners working in LUPU, the only problem left is finding drivers for whatever hardware you might have. Here is my post:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... start=1830
if you look it over, it tells you how to generate your channels.conf. It does involve going to yet another posting, and download a couple .pets, but it's a pretty comprehensive solution. Except, of course, for the driver problem. When will they require the publishing of source codes for hardware drivers?
