A new kernel was developed for the mk802 |
|
Several developers on the miniand.com forum have built a kernel that solves most of the problems porting linux to the A10. The have a good version running Lubuntu. I know Barry did some work with Woof to produce a puppy build, but the kernel he was using was problematic. Now that there is a better kernel, can someone help me attach the Puppy packages to it? I have played around with Woof, but am not experienced enough to produce the .img. thanks

Yes, Cortex-A9 is multi-core, which is what the specification says.
However, Allwinner's Cortex-A8 already works fine playing videos (the Mele is a good example).
The MK802 will be a good tool for teachers using TV or multimedia projectors in the classroom.

The great thing about the Allwinner A10 chip is it's price
and the A13 is even less.
Code: | A10 is around $7 for 5 numbers purchase and around $12-14 for smaller quantities. |

The first truly available Allwinner laptop is on sale for
$140 (including shipping) from Pandawill
Height of screen is only 600 pixels!!! Puppy linux can use that
height albeit with difficulty.

Otherwise, this is a great little device! More of this and UEFI stuff becomes irrelevant (who cares about Windows RT anyway).

I've personally been looking at all the tablets... cheaper and a usb keyboard are usually like ten bucks... but i'm worried about the touch screen... so i haven't jumped in. i don't think i have enough knowledge to get it working myself... so i'm waiting for someone to have success with one.
edit- i saw that a member has had success getting the screen to work and a keyboard but i didn't see a mention of touch screen (pm'd him but still waiting on a reply).

(800*480 ) tablet --->
