Tor has an update

#1 Post by gcmartin »

TOR 2.2.35-7.1 is available on TOR web site. This results from the Tor PET installation on SLACKO 5.33 beta.

Question
Will the "Bundle download from the above site update the TOR installation present in the current system?

Thanks in advance.

I want to use Tor Browser. But, it seems like a challenge. I have never used a browser of this type and thus am appealing to the Puppy community for startup guidance. Please share any experiences that you feel applies to the installation and use with running Puppy,

3 Requests for Assistance
  • is there anyone(s) of us who use or have used Tor for their browser?
  • And, if so, would you offer some advice of best approaches in its Installation?
  • Are there any recommendations for post installation advice?
And, the latest TOR from their site ...37-1. But Puppy remains at ...35-2 (January 2012). Is there any way for an upgrade. In the TOR PET could it be as simple as changing th ...tar.gz inside the PET to upgrade?

Thanks in advance

gcmartin,

I got it to run by editing start-tor-browser script, it won't run as root user, just comment out lines 111 to 114

Code: Select all

#if [ "`id -u`" -eq 0 ]; then
#	complain "The Tor Browser Bundle should not be run as root. Exiting."
#	exit 1
#fi
Seems to run ok, I couldn't get it to run as spot, anyway maybe someone else has a better way to run it.
