Teaach yourself Python in 24 hours book. Is it good? |
|
By accident I found this link.
http://www.pauahtun.org/TYPython/
| Quote: | Ivan Van Laningham is the author of
Sams Teach Yourself Python in 24 Hours |
That quote where from the Good Reading site.
But I thought that a link to his own site would be
okay too.
Now as all of you know. I can not even "program"
how to get my Microwave oven to cook myself a
nice cup of Coffee. So this is me wanting all of us
to share our experiences of these books that teach
such things as computer languages. I love such
but have no brain for it.
So have you read the book or others about Python
and what did you think of the book. Was it helpful?
Is he maybe even active here in the forum?

The first "hour" took me 2 minutes
The next "hour" took me 2 minutes
and the decision:
not for you and me:
they want you to learn python in a DOS box
But there is a puppy scool somewhere in the web

Oh so typical me I trusted it where for Unix and Linux.
They wrote this about the author of the book.
"Ivan Van Laningham. ... is a senior software engineer
for Callware technologies, Inc. where he provides Web server
and Unix assistance"
Okay they did not mention Linus there but Linux and Unix is kind of related
Teasing smile.

try one of those books (free online or offline):
http://www.computer-books.us/python.php
http://www.linuxcandy.com/2012/02/7-best-python-free-e-books-to-build-your-python-skills.html
http://wiki.python.org/moin/PythonBooks

http://www.readwriteweb.com/hack/2011/03/python-is-an-increasingly-popu.php
http://www.coderholic.com/free-python-programming-books/
firts try to read books for beginners (choose one, follow examples and if it will be uderstandable for u stay with this book if not try another one), later try intermediate at the end those for "pros"
i think there is no one good book for everybody
happy learning

Actually I didn't even notice that you had misspelled it -I just thought, well for some people that would be a more reasonable goal...
