Myspace music player was giving false error about Flash Subject description: Needed to install a certificate in the browser |
|
I wanted to listen to some music on myspace, and I found that Opera, Firefox and Seamonkey all gave me this error message, although Chromium worked:
| Quote: | Flash is unavailable for playback. Your Flash version is: 11.1.102 To proceed, try the following:
Refreshing the Page
Restarting your Browser
Upgrading your Flash Player |
Eventually I found out that I needed to install a certificate into the browser; I think it was this one:
http://eigene.dyndns.org/download.php?file=GlobalSignOrganizationValidationCA.crt
On Windows at my work I downloaded the certificate and went into the Firefox security settings or somewhere and imported it. The Myspace music player then worked (Of course, because I use Flashblock I also had to click the Flashblock play button as well).
In Linux at home I did the same thing in Seamonkey, but I still got the same error message until I actually disabled Flashblock, and then it worked.
Makes you wonder why on earth they can't give you a sensible message telling you that you need to install the certificate, instead of that nonsense about Flash...

Yes, just as long as that doesn't mean a whole lot of existing content disappears with them.
!!!!!
I just did a system upgrade and while testing random things found that I've got this problem again. The certicate is still installed, so what's wrong now? Maybe they've changed to a new certificate from someone else now...

This thread is NOT about a problem with Flash. It is about a page that moronically reports a problem with Flash instead of the actual problem.
