How to use Zonet USB wireless in Puppy 528?

#1 Post by rmcellig »

I think I am almost there with my Zonet USB stick (ZEW2502). I got it to work using Zorin OS 6 so I don't see why I can't get it to work with Puppy Linux5.2.8.

See the two screenshots for how far I have gotten so far. I'm not sure what to do next. I think I click on the Wireless button but after that, I don't know what to do.

I think I am almost there? I really need to get this up and running for a friend of mine. Thanks for the help!!

So it must work...change the port.

Use Frisbee...it's in Lucid 528 ...as a pet.

Either >> network or internet...in the menu.

Install it...wait a minute...go to connect and use it.

I managed to get my USB Wireless adapter working!! Frisbee came through for me but I have questions.

I need for this computer to start up with a wireless connection automatically working. What do I need to do?

My customer has no idea how all this stuff works. I'm actually not quite sure what I did.

Here are screenshots of my frisbee setup.

One thing I do know is that my Wireless adapter does work with Puppy Linux 5.2.8.

Just make a save file.

Reboot a couple of times....you should notice you are
still connected after about 30 seconds.

When you are all setup after rebooots,
copy the save file to another location as a backup.

256mb is enough...if adding nothing else..apart from a browser
and Flash.....otherwise 512mb.

Make sure you stop browser updates and cookies...cache are cleaned out
on closing.

If you are booting from usb....no problem,
a 4gig usb is about $5.

cd is 20 cents.

Thanks Chris,

I did a full install of Puppy. I noticed that after a restart if wireless doesn't connect all I have to do is enable wireless connection when right clicking on the network icon. So far so good.

I now have another issue which I believe is hardware related. For some reason, the computer restarts. I have a feeling this may be a fan or power supply issue? Any thoughts?
