Dual Boot of Puppy Linux alongwith Windows 7 (Solved) Subject description: Dual Boot of Puppy Linux alongwith Windows 7 |
|
hi Guys:
Refer to the link : http://puppylinux.org/main/How%20NOT%20to%20install%20Puppy.htm#FrugalInstall
Puppy can be install using FRUGAL method along with windows xp, but since MS has changed there booting method in windows 7 so it is not possible to setup a GRUB.
I am sure there will be some technique to setup GRUB2 as i think that GRUB1 will not work with Windows 7.
Any help n this regards will highly appreciated.
Regards

I'm using Grub 1 (legacy) on this MSI with Win 7 Ultimate right now.
I've never had a problem dual booting with Grub 1 and Windows.
I only use full install to a partition.

I have dual-booted Win 7 and Slacko on my Acer Aspire laptop using Grub4Dos.

Using Grub Legacy takes over the "master boot record"
and doesn't involve editing boot.ini.
If you don't have some experience with Grub, I advise
looking at the Grub4dos dual boot methods.
In any case; the first thing one should do is burn a Win7
"repair disk" and make a backup "image" of Win7 to another
drive, to be safe.
It's easy to do from within Windows7.

The easiest way to frugally install puppy beside windows (including windows 7) is by using the windows installer. You can download a version here.
The installer doesn't require you to use bcdedit (boot.ini for windows 7), and doesn't change the master boot record.
