webcam Trust 16490

I have the webcam Trust 16490.
I 'm trying to install it, but no luck up to now.
Did anybody have any luck with this camera?
I have puppy 5.28.

(I installed the file kernel_src_L4 (from Quickpet>Sfs Get).
Then, tried to install gspcav, wich contains drivers form many webcams, but the 'make' command gave me error.
I don't know if the kernel_src_L4-gspcav is the correct way, but that's what I found on internet.)

1. As a test, open a terminal and type the command

Does that activate the camera?

2. You need to determine the USB vendor:product ID codes. With the webcam NOT plugged in, type

Then plug in the camera and type the command again. What are the codes?

I don't see any responce. I guess it doesn't activate it.
The led of the camera is on constantly.

I found a reference to this device which claims that it is supported by the two kernel modules gspca_main.ko and gspca_pac7311.ko.

I checked in Lupu and those modules are present but they do NOT support your model. I looked in Slacko and it isn't supported there either.

Plug in the webcam and run "dmesg". What does it say about the device?

[Edit] I found another site claiming that the correct module is gspca_pac7302.ko. I looked in Slacko and that module IS present and it DOES support your 093a:2621.

So try it in Slacko 533.

Mplayer is detecting the webcam, but the key error looks like the unknown format 0x47504a50.

My only other suggestion would be to install guvcview and try it instead of mplayer. Guvcview is available somewhere for Slacko.

Otherwise the cam was recognized after loading the driver as i would expect from Trust products of which i have two mice, one of the show as "Mosart" in lsusb . There are actually two lsusb possible : The full binary and the busybox applet which does not parse an /usr/share/[misc/]usb.ids file .

Better use cat /proc/bus/usb/devices for lsusb output . The Puppy Busybox-1.15.0 once did not even had lsusb enabled .

For the further it seems to need ffmpeg recompiled/up-/down-/graded and or mplayer on your slacko .

Regarding Skype: there is a discussion here about getting other webcams to work.

It involves making a script that preloads some other code.

The required file is /usr/lib/libv4l/v4l1compat.so which is part of your guvcview install.

From the command line, type:

I get the error when the command is executed in the console, Skype is not loaded, it's closed.
I'm using the static package of Skype. Maybe that's the problem.

I'm confused. I don't think that the error message has anything to do with your webcam.

Have you ever had skype running at all? How did you start it?

Please supply a link to the source of your skype package.
