I have limited internet access, and when I have needed to get a Linux DVD in the past I have bought them from Linuxcd.com or OSDisc.com.
For custom disc writing, Linuxcd.com was excellent but now seems to have disappeared. OSDisc.com doesn't do it.

There is a DVD which I currently want to get, but can't find anywhere that writes them anymore.
Does anyone have any ideas?

This is what I am after.
http://www.caelinux.com/CMS/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/caelinux/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/caelinux/files/latest/download?source=files
It is 4.1GB.

Thanks.

I am sure you have though of this. Can you use the local library to download and cut the DVD? Or a local School? Or Junior Collage might help. Community Education program? Churches?

You Vic lot....using us up.

"""""""""

64 bit?????

" CAELinux 2011 is only available in 64bit version,
this means that you will absolutelly need an X86_64 compatible CPU
to run this version.

Most recent Intel and AMD CPUS are 64 bit :
for example Intel Core2Duo or Core2Quad, Core i3, i5, i7
and XEON 64 bit or AMD Athlon 64, Athlon X2, Athlon FX, Phenom,
and Opteron.

Please note that most Intel CoreDuo (not Core2Duo),
Atom and Pentium 4 are NOT 64 bit compatible!
Please check your hardware compatibilty first!!
Using a 64 bit OS is necessary to use more than 2Gb RAM per application and thus allows for large "industrial scale" simulation capabilities.

If your CPU is not 64 bit, you can still use our previous release CAELinux 2008 which is available in both LiveDVD and VMWare virtual machine version: see this page for more information on CAELinux 2008. "

http://sourceforge.net/projects/caelinux/

http://sourceforge.net/projects/caelinux/

So this>> caelinux2011.iso >>>< ok

I'm downloading now.

Chris.

@JamesC
I contacted them.
No reply yet.

@Minnesota
The local library only has 256k.
My miserable 3G is better than anything local.

@Chris

SUCCESS!

After giving the DVD a cut and polish, I was able to make an ISO, burn a disc, and do a working install.

And then did a backup of the install as well.

There's a shitload of stuff on that disc.

All good.

Woo Hoo!

Cheers, and thanx.

Hi,
If you need much in that line, let me know and I will download for you.
I still have the 60 + 60 limit the boys used before they left home, and I bareley use 6 gig these days. The download speed is reasonable unless there is a lot of rain (Must wash the electricity off the lines or something).
If you are in the Wimera, I.m not that far away (Maryborough)

Hi JB,

Thanks a lot for that offer.

ATM there is nothing else that I need, but it probably won't be long b4 there is.

There is something I have been quite keen to get for a while, as it is related to GPS and mapping stuff that I do.
You may find it interesting too.
http://download.osgeo.org/livedvd/release/6.0/osgeo-live-6.0.iso/download

If (when) I find something that I can't live without, I will let you know, and maybe you could include it with that.

I'll keep in touch.
Thanks, mate.

Thanks Chris.

I have just grabbed ProgeCAD-2009.
It seems like the only one that may be any good.

Now to try it.

..........

Back from the testing.
Damn good, this thing.
Works in WINE, but very slow to load big files.
Great in XP in VirtualBox.
I may register it even.

Cheers.
