ok - I tried these steps with an Icon on the desktop
a)find dropbox deamon named dropboxd in ~/.dropbox-dist
b)change the appearance of the icon:
right click on dropboxd - select icon - drag the file
~/.dropbox-dist/icons/hicolor/16x16/status/dropboxstatus-logo.png to the aera
named "drop an icon here" - ok
c)drag and drop dropboxd to the desktop
d)right click on the icon: edit item type in 1.line ~/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd
leave 2nd line blank
3rd line: The text displayed under the icon: dropbox - ok
finished
works as designed

drag and drop the dropbox binary to /root/Startup and choose 'link relative' .. dropbox should then auto start at boot
