Is my Puppy broken or Iam just dumb? Cant Install Wlan
Hello everyone,
I feel like an idiot. No matter what i tray i cant get any wireless usb adapter to work.
Everytime i install a PET and load the module it quits with a error message:Module not found or simple nothing (no new interface detected)
Ive tried a couple of wlan sticks but not a single one works
I run
Puppy Linux 4.3 with the 2.6.30.5 Kernel
on a
Toughbook M34 (no modem or other internet acces on board)

Need specific name and model of USB Wireless adapter.
You are trying to use a older version of Puppy.
May be as simple as the wireless adapter is too new for that version of Puppy.
To get support for newer hardware, with Puppy you need to use a Puppy 5 version.
Puppy usually moves on to newer version to support new hardware.
If hardware was not available when Puppy 4.3 was developed, it probable does not support it. Especially with wireless support. Those things change by the hour.
Still may be you need a specific driver that did not come with Puppy 4.3, but need specific details about wireless adapter to help.

Specific driver packages need to be compiled for a specific version of Puppy.
Where are you getting these pet packages.?
Are you getting them from here:

If you could use a newer version 5 of Puppy, your results would probable be better. A lot of problems got fixed with the newer versions of Puppy.

Short of installing a newer Puppy Linux version with a newer kernel than 4.31 comes with.Edimax nano ew-7811un" RTL8188CUS

Maybe Big Pup will give a better answer than I though. You are trying to run newer wireless N usb that came out after 4.31 kernel was made.
Yeah. What he said.Posted: Today, at 14:33 Post subject:

The latest Puppy for older computers is Wary 5.3.
I would try that one.
You can download Wary iso file from here:

For drivers to work in Puppy 4.3 get the pet packages from here:

" Kinda Lucid Puppy is a 4.3.1-based puplet for general usage.
It is built to be better-looking, modern and suitable for multimedia
