WiFi setup for Acer Aspire One A110L |
|
Hi everyone!
I've installed Puppy on my Acer Aspire One A110L today. So far I like what I see!
I'm facing a problem though: I cannot get the WiFi working. I've spent hours trying on my own and reading various instructions in the internet, but without success.
I'd be grateful for any help!
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I forgot one thing, the Acer has a Atheros AR5BXB63.

What version of Puppy are you using? Frugal vs Full vs live CD?

Could be

" Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd.
RTL8101E PCI Express Fast Ethernet controller (rev 02)

or this version >>> DpupExprimo5X327

Use frisbee on all of them.
Of the above....for that Acer...I would first try >>DpupExprimo5X327

I used UNetbootin to download Puppy ("Latest_Live") to a USB stick from which I booted Puppy.

Hi Chris!
Thank you for your answer. I guess I forgot to tell that I'm quite new to Linux or actually haven't used it that much.
Anyway, I downloaded devx_squeeze_5.X.3.2.7.sfs to a USB-stick and booted the Acer with it. That sent me to a screen with the text: "boot:" and I apparently I'm supposed to write something?
Sorry for asking for support for this kind of thing, I'm currently trying to read up on everything on this forum, but there's a lot material here and I'm not sure where to find what I need.
Thanks!

" Anyway, I downloaded devx_squeeze_5.X.3.2.7.sfs "
No, no mate.
You need the >>> squeeze-5.X.3.2.7-SCSI.iso
>> 23-Feb-2012 15:36 150M
which contains all this when you write it to cd
or usb.
[BOOT]
README.HTM
boot.cat
boot.msg
help.msg
help2.msg
initrd.gz
isolinux.bin
isolinux.cfg
logo.16
puppy_squeeze_5.X.3.2.7.sfs
vmlinuz
Chris.

Hi Chris, thanks for your support! I've got the iso-file mounted with UNetbootin and now Puppy's up and running, and so is the WLAN! Brilliant!
Thanks again!
