Where are all the log files?

I noticed that /var/log/messages has a tendency to get a little big. What other log files should I keep an eye on? Are there log files that are only generated if certain applications are installed? |

Ya I did all of that. I have a HD install so it's really not that big of deal. I was just curious. |
