A slip up at the FCC has revealed a new design for
miniature portable computers.
The details are at Charbax's site
To avoid using a hinge Archos will use a twist lid instead.
First step is to twist off lid, then lift triangular stand
Third step is to set the lid in upright position to act as screen
for computer.

Archos has posted a marketing video of the
twisting action so it's not a secret now.
There does appear to be a physical connection
between the screen and keyboard.

Nice. Would you say it is a laptop with a slimline dock and a detachable touch screen pad?
There should be a lot of innovation along these lines. Apple have a patent (an ancient system of innovation stifling) for putting a second screen strip (maybe e-ink) on their not very elegant and yet very pricey cover/stand.
No doubt a simple wire clip type stand with in built antenna will become the 'intellectual property' of some design team somewhere . . .
I am looking forward to the next Nexus, which really needs a back facing high quality camera.
The key to these new generation tablets is the OS. Android is becoming better, more open and when Android apps can be added to woof . . . we will be set up well into the future.
How exciting.
Puppy Linux
Tablets for well being penguins . . . coming soon . . .

In this video, I show web browsing speed on this OMAP4470 ARM
Powered Laptop/Tablet convertible. This ARM Powered Laptop loads web
pages faster than the Ultrabook, both over the same WiFi home network!
I load web pages like Engadget.com, Gizmodo.com and TheVerge.com
faster on the $400 Archos 101 XS than on the $1000 Toshiba z830
Ultrabook! And the firmware isn’t even Jelly Bean yet! It’ll get the Jelly
Bean firmware by the time Archos starts selling this device next month in
Europe or the month after that in the USA! Everyone knows Jelly Bean
and Linaro speeds up Android even more!
