Does Puppy have Make?

#1 Post by mulluysavage »

I'm trying to install an un-packaged program for the first time. The README says, "just make". When I try to use make I get the error:

bash: make: command not found

You have to load the DEVx sfs for your Puppy. What breed are you running?

okay... got devx wary 510 loaded into /mnt/home (strangely I don't see any pupsave or other sfs that barry's sfs tutorial talked about) and when running the boot config tool, it tells me that there's no sfs in there or it's the wrong version. must be the wrong version? How do I figure out what verson of puppy i am running?

look in /mnt/home/

You should see a file that says something like wary_puppy_#.#.#.sfs with the puppy version number where the ### is in that. That's your puppy version number.

Also, when you installed Puppy, did you choose Full or Frugal as the install method. That -does- change things.

oh crap the lack of sfs files in /mnt/home means I did a full install doesn't it. and therefore sfss won't work.

Unless you installed alongside Windows using the installer,

Wait before you reformat. I'm going to bed for now, (it's midnight, basically) but there is a way for a full install. I'll post back tomorrow.
