How to use an external monitor from my laptop?

I have just got a HP Laptop model ZE4500, and want
to run an external monitor . The machine was rather slow
when I run MS windows. So I cleaned off all the MS progs.

I have done a full install of Puppy V528.005-2, all looks
to run well. I have got an external monitor to work and it
shows what I have got on the laptop lcd.

I have d/l a prog from Ubuntu/Debian repos called Lyricue ,
this looks like just what I need.

This prog seemed to install, but would not run from the menu/sub menu,
also tried from the terminal console, also no good.

Is there a dot pet of this one ?
what do I have to do to get this prog to work ?

Lyricue looks like a song lyric program? (sorry not familiar).

Is your problem that it does not run on an external monitor? I'm sorry I don't quite understand the question.
