Lucid 528 startup error message re: Intel chipset

#1 Post by olewilly »

Hi

When I start Puppy Lucid 528 on this box I get this message:

Intel 800/900 Series VBIOS Hack : version 0.5.3

Intel chipset detected. However, 915resolution was unable to determine the chipset type.
Chipset Id: 11308086
Please report this problem to stomljen@yahoo.com

Boot using the "puppy pfix=nox" option.

From the command line, run "xorgwizard". Hopefully, you can find a more compatible video driver. Maybe Vesa.

Is this a new error message? Did you get it when running off the Live CD?

It's a common problem when trying to use Linux on that
Vaio laptop. (815 graphics)

One person had luck using Puppy Lucid 5.1.1.

I try i810 xorg driver whenever possible on my 855 graphics
laptop.

Inspiron 700m, Pent.M 1.6Ghz, 1Gb ram.
Msi Wind U100, N270 1.6>2.0Ghz, 1.5Gb ram.
Eeepc 8g 701, 900Mhz, 1Gb ram.
Full installs
