mhwaveedit 1.4.22 available
Avoid middle mouse click inside app window
(see final post)

New features in version 1.4.22:

* Improvements and fixes in the sample conversion and dithering code
* Display zoom and speed settings next to status bar
* Bug fix for value truncation in position cursor dialog
* For ogg files, choose between decompression to temporary file and
on-the-fly access
* Various bug fixes

I compiled mhwaveedit 1.4.22 so that it will run on
most puppy distributions (Wary, Racy,Fluppy, Lucid Puppy etc.).

I used Lucid puppy 525 to compile since puppy 431 gave errors.

Instruction to compile:

download
http://download.gna.org/mhwaveedit/mhwaveedit-1.4.22.tar.bz2

I decompresed mhwaveedit package in convenient place.

I made a folder /root/temp

I made sure that a file (install-sh) was executable

CD into mhwaveedit package and launch terminal and type....

Code:

./configure  -without-libsamplerate   --without-jack --without-pulse --without-esound  --with-default-mixerapp=retrovol  --enable-nls  --prefix=/usr
make
make install  DESTDIR=/root/temp

I stripped the binary from 1.5mb to .5mb by

using iguleder_tools-001.pet

This version of mhwaveedit should run on most recent puppies
including precise, however it won't run on Puppy 431 and
I couldn't get it to compile on puppy 431 Crying or Very sad
The fact that it doesn't use libsamplerate doesn't appear to
affect the quality.

I left out the .desktop file and icon for compatibilty.

I compiled this to be compatible with as many puppies as possible.

So I didn't put a desktop file inside ---> thus no change
in the menu will be seen.

Other puppies that I have posted do have .desktop files
which can sometimes have the unwanted 'double entry'.

PostPosted: Sat 13 Oct 2012, 13:27    Post_subject: bug??

I've been using this version and I don't like it. Crying or Very sad

There's something wrong !! The vertical line which
follows the playing of the music doesn't move correctly.

Is it the way I compiled this program??

Stick with version 1.4.21 until this is fixed.

I've been compiling and checking mhwaveedit 1.4.22

I've come across a nasty bug

To duplicate the bug ---->

Middle mouse click in window while the sound file is
playing. The vertical bar cursor becomes confused
and worst of all, the sound file playing can't be stopped .
Click on red 'Stop' button won't work, so I have to quit program to stop the playing.

I've tested on Puppy linux and Porteus linux.
Frugal and full installs.

It works fine if I avoid a middle mouse click.

I suggest people avoid this version and stick with mhwaveedit 1.4.21
