No Audio After Reboot Subject description: Sound Works Until You Shutdown |
|
Update 10/1/12
Puppy v5.3.3
Toshiba Satellite P25-S509 had sound after running ALSA Wizard, but after reboot, no sound. No fun running Wizard every boot.
This Toshiba’s Intel Sound Chip does double duty and is also is used for the PC’s Analog SOFTWARE Modem.
On Re-boot Puppy loads the module (snd_intel8x0m) for the modem and that’s the end of sound.
To STOP “snd_intel8x0m” from loading, use BootManager from the System menu and Black List it.
Re-boot and enjoy sound every time you boot.
Thanks to Farm for his/her tip, that put me on the right track to solve this sound problem.
Toshiba Satellite P25-S509 had sound after running ALSA Wizard, but after reboot, no sound. No fun running Wizard every boot.
This works for Puppy v5.3.1
After running Wizard and sound working, go to:”/root/.etc/modprobe.d/alsa.conf” and open in text editor.
Find the lines located between remarks “ALASACONF version xxxxxxx” and “END: Generated by ALSACONF, do not edit.”
Copy these lines (in my case 2 lines at line 12 and 13).
Now go to “/root/.etc/init.d/10alsa” and open in text editor.
At the first line in the file that is simply “done” (in my case line 23), move to the end of line above it and hit enter.
Now enter the lines you copied above, above the line "done".
Save the file, reboot and sound will be working every time you boot.
