If you save to a personal file:
-say in /dev/sda3-
on next reboot that partition become /mnt/home.

Nowadays, /dev/sda3 continues to show
at bottom of the desktop.

Do not use that icon.

If you use it then puppy will create
a new dir INTO your personal file.
Yeah, that 512M file will get quickly filled
with your stuff.

/dev/sda3 should be accessed
always trought /mnt/home.

I have never had any problems in using the drive icons to mount the drive and save files outside of my mounted pupsave file.
Saving or copying files to /home and /mnt/home are two different things.
Of course if one uses the mount icon to mount the drive your frugal install of puppy is on, say /dev/sda2, when mounted, it will show as empty. Whereas /mnt/home will show the actual contents of /dev/sda2.
