I edited a non-latin non-unicode text file in Geany, and when I saved it, it turned out that it was converted to unicode, so the text in the file turned into gibberish. I could not find any choice of encoding in Geany.
Is there a way to make Geany save files not in unicode, and if not, is there another text editor with syntax highlighting that can be installed in Puppy instead?
Geany converts text to unicoded gibberish, unwanted
In leafpad you can set the encoding in "save as".
In Geany:
Document -> set encoding -> xxx
If your geany does not have that, you migt have an older version, in that case upgrade:

I just edited the run action of the document and all my word processing shortcuts, like for instance you have a document doc_XXX.xml, just right click it and goto "set run action" and it will probably say: geany "$1". now just delete the word geany and put in your fav. text editor like i did: abiword "$1", and i did it to all my text editor shortcuts aswell so geany doesnt come up anywhere
