Yes ,I installed PUPPY 5.25 from PC utilities UK Magazine , burned an ISO , installed it on my 900MHZ Celeron system w/386mb ram , 20 gig Hardrive .
Decided to replace my Venerable REDHAT 7.3 install ,was so lacking in Multi-media capabiliteis.
Amazing what Barry Kauler did with 129 Mbytes!!!
Only trouble is I MISS X_CDROAST!!!!! ,
adios ,chilibowl
PUPPY -too good to be true!!!
...as a further note:
Redhat 7.3 uses the GNOME desktop -- and a particularly old version at that!
A French member here has made not one but *four* GNOME Puppies for us, one pair with GNOME 2 and the other with GNOME 3.
GNOME 2 Puppy --> http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=79737
GNOME 3 Puppy --> http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=79793
If you prefer another WM, let us know and we'll see what we can do to get it going.
...as a note. Another French member of our forum, Argolance, has developed a special desktop environment *only* for Puppy, called 2PDE. I have tried it and I find it *amazing*. It is designed for Racy 53, which will run on any CPU with 'PAE' compatibility. If you have a Pentium M or Celeron M of a certain type (unfortunately the more common variety), it will not work. It's easy to know -- if your laptop or desktop has a "Centrino" CPU, then for sure it's not going to happen.
If you want to check out 2PDE, you can get it here --> http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=81125
If you can't read French, here is a link through Google Translate --> http://tinyurl.com/9yjbo2j
...I will note that 2PDE also works in Slacko 533 as reported by Jasper, in the thread I've linked. I'll test it later today on Wary 53 and see how it goes -- I'm pretty sure Wary doesn't have the 'PAE' feature in it, and so can run on bloody anything.

EDIT: 2PDE works in Wary 53! Use the link for Racy 53 and scroll to the top of the page to get Wary.

Hello Chris,
well, i should have tested it first. After installation it complains about cdrecord permission. Because cdrecord is actually a symlink to wodim. Solution, install
cdrtools-2.01.01a23-mkisofs_01a10.pet.
But I agree with Flash's post above, that chilibowl should give pburn a spin first, then compare with xcdroast.
