When submitting bug reports to WineHQ, it appears a non stripped Wine provides more information than a stripped Wine.

Dear green_dome,
Thanks as usual. I notice this version has paler fonts compared to previous versions. The wine guys must have changed some X rendering feature.
With kind regards,

Hi green_dome,
i am just wondering ...
as the wine pets are compiled with xorg_xorg_full_dri-7.3.pet among others, are the wine pets (or sfs) compatible with Xorg version higher than 1.7.3 ?
(Here using exprimo with xorg 1.7.7 with wine-1.1.12 ...such an old version because the sfs size is only 14MB and enough for the Win applications used)
Thanks for all your job !

Even though my name is not green_dome, I think I can help.
It runs for me with Xorg version 1.11.4. Also, version 1.5.13 is only ~24MB.

Dear green_dome,
Thanks for the latest version. I still get ugly fonts - latest few versions - and don't know why. Do you have any idea? I used to get better results by using an older libfreetype (appending the path before launching wine apps), but that doesn't seem to do the trick any more.
With kind regards,
vovchik

Wine 1.5.13 Subject description: A Real Working Copy of Wine |
|
green_dome
Thank you very much for your efforts in making Wine 2.5.13 PET. I looked all over today trying to get wine to work with no avail. Then I came across your post and thought, oh well what's one more time. Great, what a surprise, It workd.
Being a newbie I just wish I had half your knowledge dealing with PL and linux in general.
Again, Thanks.
