A Organized list of all *WORKING* Puppy Repositories

#1 Post by Saturn »

Hi,

I just spent the last four hours sifting page upon page of google search results

and compiled a list of all *WORKING* and active puppy software repositories

The first search Term "puppy linux repositories" which is quite an obvious search phrase only resulted in 48 pages of search results

"puppy linux packages" has more than that, but I am still in the process of sifting through them, but I am certain I have gotten the majority of them recorded on forum...
The link to the list is here:

http://puppy-linux-hub.invisionconnect. ... ppy-linux/

If you happen to come across any other software or driver repositories that are active and still have a functional valid URL, please reply to the topic there or here, or PM me if that's what you prefer!

Also, to make a special mention, I would like to ask the kind courtesy of this list to be duplicated and hosted else where, in case I am not able to pay the bill to host the forum, like what's happened before with my very own repository once.

If raffy, smokey01 or russoodle can help out with this special matter/task I would greatly appreciate it!

Also, there are some other chewy dog biscuits I have gathered on the forum overnight too, please check and see if those are of any interest as well

You do not even have to register at the current moment to post!

Thanks!

Saturn....

Be happy to...export it as html and I can host it, as I don't have the forum software you use.

I used to do basic HTML with Tags, <head> and img=src and the other stuff too, I know html is quite more extensive than that!

But I lost all of it because I have not been using it at all for so long...
For many reasons....

Anyways, I'll post the list in it's entire length, here to make it easier for people to access...

Here it goes:

Here is a list that I am building of available and functional Software Repositories for Puppy:

Fastest Mirror(For most locations) :
http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/distr/puppylinux/

Official mirror used by Barry Kauler, Mirrored to many others (Slow)

Brainwave Partner and sponsor:
(Remnants of Brainwave hosted here, along with a Treasure Trove of other contributor's contents)

Aussie Mirrors:

Japan Mirror:

For Older 2006-2007 puppies:

A repository hosted by silverdollar solutions/asterisk offering a sizeable collection of "up-to-date" puppy software packages:
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11521006/asteri ... index.html

A Puppy Linux Software Repository Operated by Tempestuous and His Friends:

Puppy Linux Software Repository at Dreamhosters:
http://puppylinux.dreamhosters.com/

For Systems with the capability to address more than Four GB of Ram:
http://ftp.nluug.nl/os/Linux/distr/fatdog/iso/
http://www.lhpup.org/download.htm

Themes, fonts, wallpapers , and Icon packages:
http://www.pa-mcclamrock.com/themescheme.html

That's all I could find after two google searches with result pages of 68, and 72

Any suggestion as to other things that need tidying up/ organizing?

May I suggest that whenever and wherever anyone posts a list of links, they include the date? I get disgusted with web pages that are obviously very old but that have no date anywhere in them. Links seem to have a half-life. After a certain time has passed since it was updated, half of the links on a web page will be no good. If I know that a list of links is, say, 5 years old, I won't waste a lot of time trying the links.

One of the features of a forum that I like is that every post is dated.

found yet another repo this evening, and for your convenience flash, this repo is dated, enjoy! :-D

The akita puppy linux spin repository along with a sizeable collection of pets!

http://akita.scottjarvis.com/ Repository last updated @ 14-Jan-2012 14:52

And Flash just my two cents, I have no idea of what your on about, I sifted through the search results and did all work the FOR YOU....

I would not honestly put *WORKING* in the topic description if it was too old or full of dead links, now would I?....

But out of courtesy and love for you, and all the puppy community at large, I shall put time and dates on the repo listings if they are available :D

Thank you for your wise suggestion, as I would agree that, the more detail a piece of information has regardless of subject, the more useful it is!

Have a good day!

Love from the former BrainWave kennel,
Saturn

Tube Guy has took some time out of his busy schedule to compose the repo list(Many Thanks +1)That I have composed from/on my forum into a generic web-page format at this location:

http://tubeguy.org/puppybg/puppy_repos.html

This will be the permanent location of the repo list, if my forum were ever to go offline due to a event of "non-payment" or cancellation by me

Thanks Guys!
