Having a Problem Increasing My Save-File [solved]

#1 Post by Eathray »

Hi all,

Never had this problem before.

My save file is getting small, and I've used the increase save-file option successfully before on this puppy, but now it's not working anymore.

Puppy Lucid 5.2.0
Frugal Install
2.3gig Save-file
ext4 partition
hp 64 dual-core (runs 32 also)
tons of ram and swap
XFCE

I thought maybe since I switched to xfce that makes some kind of problem with the increase safe-file program? Maybe I can try a command line code? Does anyone know how to increase the save-file from a terminal?

As worse case, can I remaster my puppy as it is, reinstall, then create a new save file?

Like I said, any options helpful.

Thanks

Where is the save file located?
There is free space at location for the added size?
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
YaPI(any iso installer)

Thanks for the reply BigPup,

It is located in /mnt/home/lucid520. This is on partition sda2 with 14gig of unused space.

Bigpup,

Okay, now I'm embarrassed.

1) It could be 'old-timers' creeping up on me.
2) I may have burnt too many brain cells in my youth.

I thought I had an extra 14gig on sda2. Because you asked, I decided to dig out my Gparted disk and double check. It turns out, I had that extra 14gig on sda4

So I shuffled stuff around, gained 14 gig on sda2 which I took from sda4, and increased my save-file by 1gig.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious! I would have lost money if that were a bet!
