try running it in a console like this
/usr/bin/iron --user-data-dir /root/irondata
create the folder /root/irondata first though

chrome307 has created a pet of Iron 22.0.1250.0 stable for Lucid: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=81545. I confirm that it works for Precise Puppy as LoboGrande wrote.

@xman,

#2 - installation note says iron will be found under Internet, it is not under Internet but utility
so, what might I be doing wrong?

I am not a programmer. However, I have managed to overcome the Iron/Chrome cannot be run as Root" by simple tweak in executable file.

If those that fail to get Iron going maybe have full install?
I use only frugal install and both the pet and the sfs works in root here.
So it is a mystery to me.
I would say we need a very detailed list of exact how you boot and
and on what and how it is installed and what kind of partitions and
how you installed it and so on.
Did you wait for the Iron to have time to install or did you rush it in some way.
