How to take the PMs into mailbox or take backup. |
|
Dear All,
Is there a way to take all puppy forum PMs to personal mailboxes? Any way to have a backup of them?
If there would have been a "send a copy to mail id" option available when we send a PM or get a reply, having backup would have not been needed.
We have a good way of getting notified when we get a reply to our post/reply to PM. If similar thing (not only notification, but also the reply itself -only for PM-) would be possible, that would be very nice.
Sincerely,
Srinivas Nayak

Yeah, I wouldn't mind being able to save all the PMs in my mailboxes. They're getting full, again. I've already had to manually save a bunch once, some months ago.
Another (non-computer) forum I visit has a function at the bottom of each mailbox page where you can save the messages on that page to a CSV or other format (three specific formats, but I don't remember them all offhand) file. I don't know if that's specific to the newer version of phpbb they're using, or if it's a phpbb mod, though.

There's a way to download whole threads of the forum. It's somewhere in the forum, maybe the How To section. Perhaps it could be modified to download your Inbox?

I think I remember reading that adapting it to the PM boxes wasn't quite possible, at one point. Not that I have it bookmarked on this system (I did on my previous Puppy system, before it went down, if I remember correctly. )

Let me see if I can modify this...

Okay, there are two threads. That's one.
I had in mind this one, in which I asked people to be judicious in their use of it, for fear that if a lot of people decided to download a long thread or a lot of threads at once, the forum server might slow down or even crash. So far, that hasn't happened.

Many thanks Flash.
Yes yes.
I too found both. The former is successor of the later. Don't know, if I can change the script and get my forum save box.
