You think the original author would have fixed it eh? Lazy so'n'so he is!
Did you find the original .pfd file? It's buried somewhere in this forum.
Anyhow, I guess we can have pwidgets-2.4.1 in the repo now. I'm amazed that the ancient conky still works.
Cheers |
The original author probably wouldn't stoop to using my technique. I started with a font that worked (open source of course) and pasted in your icons and changed the Font Info. Down and dirty, thats me.

I'm running 4 machines on one monitor with a KVM switch. One of the machines is a file and PXE server. With any Xorg past 1.7.7 xorg freezes up when I switch to another machine on the monitor. I just load the xorg_base and xserver from spup-051 over the top and I'm good to go. Might be useful for others with video problems

slacko beta4 and brookdale |
|
o1micko,
Just a quick report - was able to boot into desktop with no issue on this Brookdale chip. Opened some windows, no initial problems. Unsure if you have incorporated the "Brookdale" fix into 5.4 (or 5.3.3 for that matter), but first run seemed ok. I've never had an issue with 5.3.1, and very few with 5.3.3 (and those were mostly flash related crashes). Thanks. Should you need anything specifically, just let me know.

No Shutdown Subject description: Nothing happens, have to make a cold boot |
|
I have the latest build of Slacko in a frugal installation on my hard drive. As usual, Puppy is the most flexible, most efficient Linux I have used --and I have used many, including many Puppies.
A problem, however, has come up: Nothing happens when I try to close Puppy. Neither the reboot option nor the shut down option does anything at all. I have to simply turn the machine off (a Dell Optiplex GX520, by the way).

posting from a lenovo t61 using 5.3.7.1-PAE live cd
everything working well so far apart from abiword 'white' page not visible on start, minimize and back to correct
have added chromium 22 (sfs) and wake on lan (pet)
like the addition of premote rdesktop (normally install x11 & tightvnv)
looking really good - thanks
EDIT:
well, a bit early to post
shortly after original post I was unable to mount one of my drives so tried to restart X but system hang and everything went slow
am now posting from the non-PAE version (I have 4gb installed but had issues with the slacko 5.3.3 PAE also)
premote wouldn't connect using vnc so have installed tightvnc
previous slacko pets seem to be working ok so far

Yeah, vnc is not included, rdesktop and ssh (client) are. It's easy to install ssh (server). Infrastructure is there already. As for vnc, I might have to find a SlackBuild and add it to the repo.
