I've been unable to boot older versions of puppy on my computer. BIOS have all the USB options but none of them worked. I downloaded the latest warypuppy yesterday and tried the Bootflash install puppy to USB in the setup menu. Changed BIOS to boot from USB-HDD. Now, it does seem to want to boot from the flashdrive but I get the message:
Syslinux 3.73 Copyright....
Could not find kernel image: linux
boot:
And nothing happens further. I've checked the contents of the flashdrive and initrd.gz, ldlinux.sys, puppy_wary_5.3.90.sfs, syslinux.cfg and vmlinuz are present.
Any ideas? Thanks
Booting Puppy 5.39 from USB flashdrive
Yes, my syslinux.cfg file is the same and files are also installed in root of vfat. I was wondering if the name of the sfs file is correctly spelled?8-bit wrote:What does your syslinux.cfg file contain?
Mine has all the files in the root of the USB drive and it is formatted vfat.
The contents of mine is "default vmlinuz initrd=initrd.gz pmedia=usbflash"
Also, I have to change the boot order in BIOS as you did.

I found that not all of my flash drives accepted the same bootable formatting. I had to play with 2 or 3 attempts to install (choosing different methods) to get it to work.nic007 wrote:Yes, my syslinux.cfg file is the same and files are also installed in root of vfat. (I had some really old flash drives, and installed some rescue tools on a 512MB and a 1GB flash drive)
