Hi Barry here is the results of the probe you asked about
============
# modprobe via82cxxx_audio
Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.4.27/modules.dep
/lib/modules/2.4.27/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o.gz: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including inva lid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.27/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o.gz: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.27/sound /via82cxxx_audio.o.gz failed
/lib/modules/2.4.27/sound/via82cxxx_audio.o.gz: insmod via82cxxx_audio failed
==============
Soon we will hear sound
What will we hear?

Sound not detected on nForce2 |
|
I have an asus motherboard A7N8X-X with nForce2 sound (Harddrive 2 Install). Found that Puppy 1.0.2 had the driver, but was not detected (i810_audio). It was calling out for (10de: 6a) in the hardware probe. At /lib/libhardware/ soundcard.db found line 10de|006b|i810_audio|nVidia|Sound nForce2 APU. Changed b to a on that line and it now auto detects without modprobing. Lost the use of 2barks.au to my wife's cats joy. All else seems all right.

One Partition HD install |
|

I am glad those instructions worked. I tried the option 2 install from "no-brain" mode (my usual state of mind) and ran into problems.
This is how I understand the situation:
I prepared a single partition hardisk
I booted from Puppy
Puppy asks 3 questions which places a puppy001 on the hard disk
When using the option 2 install this file means Puppy won't install on the partition it thinks you have booted from
Now the easiest install to HD for me was when I used the script someone prepared that was eventually incorporated into the Puppy HD install.
Jester yesterday was also having problems with the HD install. Hope he got my IRC messages and was successful.
Now these are my instructions:
http://www.goosee.com/puppy/wikka/HardDiskInstall
How anyone can make any sense of them I am not sure.
At the moment I am happily booting from CD
but I have a HD awaiting a simple set of instructions?
Who will help us?
