Win7 x64 laptop, LinuxPuppySlacko5.3.3 USB:
My Screen is much too bright.
How to tone down screen brightness ?
And how to reset DPI. When in win7, screen readability is set at 125%.
I don't know what that equates to in DPI.
And how to keep settings from boot to boot ?
Thanks...vmars316

Set global font size
Both should be found in menu> desktop

Hope that helps
...or the slacko fans will help

Please post the file syslinux.cfg from your USB drive.
With what filesystem is the USB drive formatted?

How to tone down screen brightness ? Subject description: What is your computer make and model? |
|
vmars316,
Hello ...please explain what you mean by a "Win7 x64 laptop"?
What make and model hardware (computer) do you have?
I'm assuming when you say "Win7 x64" you are referring to an MS OS? Correct?
Why are you calling your hardware by a software name?
You write:

The reason why I ask what make and model machine you have is that some machines have a hardware switch that can control the brighteness of the screen.
Let us know what machine you are using and perhaps we can tell if there is a hardware button on the computer that will control your screen brightness.

I have two, both running Windows 7 HomePremium.
Sony Vaio Laptop vng-f250j x64 and
Lenovo G770 Laptop x64 .
Both have key combinations to control brightness(Cntrl + F5 or F6).
But this doesn't work in PuppyLinux.
Yes, I was able to tone down the Brightness.
But now the Menus (from bottom-left PuppyButton), are so dark that I cannot read their text, unless they are selected/highlighted.
I would like to make all Menus a much lighter shade of grey. So that the Black print is more readable.
Pls, How can I do this ?
Also, I would also like to make the TitleBar of all windows, Larger, and the Text Larger.
Likewise, How can I do this ?
Thanks...Vernon

How to tone down screen brightness ? Subject description: Back from Distractions |

Hello Vernon,
I've been pre-occupied with moving homes for the last couple of weeks. Finally got settled in only to find someone had mistakenly cut the phone lines to the new place. Just now got back on line tonight after being off for a week.
You may have found your answers by now. But, if not, I intend to reply to your questions shortly (by the weekend). There are easy answers to all the questions you asked in the above post.
Sky
