How to set up a live.com email account in SeaMonkey? |
|
I am editing over the original Post, so the answer is right upFront:
Here is the info that works for both Windows7 and PuppyLinux-5.3.3
From: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Hotmail
Quote: | Please note the difference in Secure Commection between
Pop3 Secure connection: SSL/TLS
smtp Secure connection: STARTTLS
And User Name: Your FULL email address for both pop3 and smtp .
|
=============================================
Type: POP
Server Name: pop3.live.com
User Name: Your FULL email address
Port: 995 (this should be automatically set when you select SSL)
Secure connection: SSL/TLS
Secure authentication: normal password
=============================================
Type: SMTP
[edit]
Server Name: smtp.live.com
Port: 587 (you could also use port 25 if your ISP doesn't block it)
Username: Your FULL email address
Secure connection: STARTTLS
Secure authentication: normal password
Thanks...Vernon

Vmars- Hotmail's fickle. Aside from this- enable plugins for mail and newsgroups..

I am trying to connect to live.com from my 'Win7 x64 Laptop'.
Works fine when I am running wlmail.exe ,
but trying to connect to live.com with seamonkey won't go.

What Puppy are you using? I have had issues with older versions of seamonkey being refused by hotmail. Either upgrade to a later version of seamonkey, or another up to date browser.

Vern- would you like to try an upgrade? Have emails you'd like to save?
Seamonkey's current main folder is /usr/lib/seamonkey, yes?

Hey, when you're ready- you're ready.. don't sweat it.
While the upgrade was seamless for me, there's nothing wrong with back'n up your:
/root/.mozilla/seamonkey/*.default profile.
Dwnld to your directory of choice.
Clk to extract >> choose /usr/lib as the destination >> Done!
Now go'n retry that site of yours..

2.14 *IS* the current version. You meant you're running 2.9<POINT>1..

Seamonkey/email
Yes, I checked it again
in the Help/about says its 2.9.1
I also downloaded SeaMonkey-2.1.4.tar.bz2
and opened it in tmp/seamonkey/........
How do I install it ?
Do I first need to uninstal the 2.9.1 version first ?
Thanks...vm

Subject description: How do I install "seamonkey-2.1.4.tar.bz2" |
|
I am running "LinuxPuppySlacko5.3.3 from USB":
Quote: | you're going to overwrite |
Yes, but how do I do that ?
I have seamonkey-2.1.4.tar.bz2
And I see /root/.mozilla/seamonkey and all sorts of seamonkey Folders and Files.
And in XArchve I can see all the compressed Files.
So how do I get seamonkey in this format "seamonkey-2.1.4.tar.bz2"
into "/root/.mozilla/seamonkey" and all the other Folders and Files.
How do I install "seamonkey-2.1.4.tar.bz2"
I have read the "The Puppy Linux Book", but it doesn't cover this stuff.
Thanks...vm
ps: And after I learn how to install seamonkey from .bz2 ,
I'll need to know how to install "xfe**.sfs"
