how to change aspect ratio of photo? [solved]

I have a photo of a person. It is elongated in the vertical direction, and probably requires an aspect ratio of 16:9 to make it look normal. I don't find an adjustment for aspect ratio in mtpaint. How can I change aspect ratio of this still photo?

From mtpaint menus, choose Image --> Scale Canvas ... then untick Fix Aspect Ratio and reduce the height for New.
