Hi 01micko,
That did the trick. Many thanks.
EDIT - LATER
Also in the following did you intend two entries for defaultbrowser or one for the browser & one for defaultemail?

I am running Slacko 5.4 with Firefox and went to use the PDF printer that is part of CUPS. It crashed without producing a PDF file.
And I did not see any Puppy PDF printer offering to install.
So am I missing something?
There are lots of times when I want to be able to save a document to a PDF file so I can print it later.
Also, that hesitation in the browser I was talking about earlier just reappeared as keyboard response just stopped while typing this post and after a short wait, reappeared.
If I keep typing, the text in the keyboard buffer does appear.
But the display is not keeping up with the input.
This is also happening when playing videos from the web or locally too.

Slacko-5.4 feedback and bug reports
I took another stab at remastering my usbhd install of slacko-54 pae.
This time I didn't put any extra sfs files in the puppylivecdbuild
directory,in the first remaster I put the devx, kernel source, and libre
office sfs files in there.
The custom-puppy.iso is 1157mb in size where the first one was
1488mb,the devx, kernel source and libre office are included in the
newest iso so it wasn't necessary to put them in the puppylivecdbuild
directory since they were already loaded.
I did a manual frugal install of the new iso to an 8gb flash drive and
installed grub4dos.
I plugged the flashdrive into another pc with nvidia graphics.
I used the advanced grub4dos directory on first boot and booted
pfix=ram,it booted to the prompt, I ran xorgwizard and chose the
nvidia driver.
Then did the usual setup and rebooted creating my savefile.

LANDisk Samba shares
Hi
I thought I would try the latest Slacko. But one essential requirement is that I must be able to connect to my LANDisk. Until today I had both Puppy 4.3.1 and Slacko-5.3.1 as frugal installations on my Acer laptop HD. But I have just upgraded the Windows on the same HD to Windows 8(sad isn't it!) and from what I have read Grub4DOS won't work so I decide to move the frugal files to a USB stick with Grub as the boot-loader. All this went fine. But then I decided to upgrade to a fugal Slacko 5.4 and also frugal install Precise Puppy 5.4.1. Unfortunately I have had to roll both back to my prior working installations as they both have the same problem. For starters YASSM finds my LANDossk shares but does not connect. So I installed on Slacko-5.4 Pnethood 0.65 but I think its missing the bit I told Barry K ages about. If I execute this before running pNethood (like I used to do before BK added to his version of pNethood in 4.3.1 and which works just fine) and then "show" a share I get a massive crash with a screen full of CIF errors and a halt only recoverable by a power switch turn off. The same thing happens on Precise Puppy 5.4.1 which seems to already have the built-in.
No idea what the problem is so any suggestions greatly appreciated otherwise I am stuck with the legacy versions

Bug report...
When I tried to install my pet package Advanced Bash Scripting Guide v6.6
I noticed that the desktop entries wouldn't show in the Start menu.
The most likely reason is because the package has two desktop files inside.
The fix was to type 'fixmenus' after the installation of the pet package.
Note that Barry Kauler made some change to his Precise distro
a couple of months ago that solved the problem.

Slacko 5.4 is working well on my Acer Aspire with an Intel Atom processor and Nvidia graphics. I am using Pmode=6 fugal install. This is the first time that I have not had a problem with the Pmode=6 fugal install. It works well. I am using the default Nouvea driver for the graphics and it works fine. Thanks for all the work.
Enjoy life, Just Greg

PPLOG
I hope I'm not asking this in the wrong place...
I can't get PPLOG to launch in Slacko 5.4 Opera4 (non-pae version) I get error 500.
Machine is HP laptop, i7 sandybridge and Intel video (didn't change driver) 4gb ram, booting from CD iso image. I tried it after saving a couple of times, and also pfix=ram.
I Really like Slacko thanks so much for this!

PAE on Intel I-series processors
Hi MobiMobi wrote: ... I Really like Slacko thanks so much for this!
My comments more than likely will not solve the "500" problem. But, I noticed that your running non-PAE on a system.equiped with a PAE designed processor.
If you or anyone is running an "I-series processor" you will probably get better performance with PAE versions of Puppy. It has to do with the Linux-Puppy design, method of RAM usage, and the Intel hardware. This was shown and documented when we did testing of PUPPY with PAE earlier. Similar testing by other groups outside of Puppyland show this as well. And, this is consistent with Intel and AMD testing a decade ago. This performance increase is independent of how much RAM you have but certainly makes Puppy a capable RAM user on all systems 4GB or greater.
Here to help
Re: PAE on Intel I-series processors
Notwithstanding test conclusions by others, in my personal experience there is no appreciable benefit from using a PAE version of Puppy.gcmartin wrote: If you or anyone is running an "I-series processor" you will probably get better performance with PAE versions of Puppy.
