Hello.

This one http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?mode=attach&id=62033 is a very useful and recommended update to LazY Puppy 2.0.3 Build 0.0.3.

It refines again the Remaster Suite and a new remaster, done by using this update, can run then completely from cd/dvd including all its sfs files. SFS files will load from cd/dvd without to confirm/click any "copy"-gui of lazy_sfs_load (which is used as default in the LazY Puppy RunScripts).

Install in a fresh system (RAM, no save file) and do a remaster immediately. To make a iso file do mount the bootpartition - otherwise you'll get only the new created StArtLPx2 sfs file.

RSH

NOTE! NOTE! NOTE!

Everyone who has downloaded LazYPuppy-202-DE-20121106-01.iso (or similar to that name) (I hope you didn't download) must download LazY Puppy again. The new name is LazYPuppy-202-DE-003.iso or LazYPuppy-202-EN-003.iso. There seems to be one or two bugs in LazY Puppy USB Installer and maybe in the Remaster Script.

We found this in the German forum.

Hi nooby.

The Link to download 003 is here.
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=662775#662775
It is currently stored at mediafire.

Link is at the end of the post.

---

I did never get a NTFS Warning. Can you explain, what you've done before mounting the drive?

RSH

Note: do not installa and use the above attached .pet in 002 --> it'S made especially for 003.

Version 002 is not longer supported by updates and applications.

Thanks

I am in Lazy version003 now and have installed Firefox 7
But that one is too old. They have FF17 now

How do you deal with such things? I mean if you don't want to use a save file and the FF 7 gets updated to 17 and you still have FF7 then it does not
save the FF17 as sfs and one have to update the FF7 to FF17 each time?

Hope you can include the Spotify into your uploaded sfs to just use
instead of all of us have to go through something we have never done before?

Sure I will try but then I have to do that with a pet for FF17 too
And not sure where to find that one. Is that for Lupu 528-005 I guess.

Okay The portable app for Spotify from that external site
how does one use that one in Lazy?

Hi nooby.

Here are the answers to your questions in the SFS P.L.U.S. thread. Please post here if you are using LazY Puppy and its SFS P.L.U.S., because it is different to the version in the other thread. Just to make sure, I'm not confusing some users because of giving the right information in the wrong thread.

Quote:
There is nothing there to do that so I have to install SFS plus then?
For to do that part? But did you not warn about not installing SFS pluse
to Lazy 003? It is already available as sfs most likely?
But then I should look for it in menu? Okay I take a look

No. Don't install SFS P.L.U.S. into LazY Puppy - since it has its own (the first and most forwarded) version.

Quote:
Seems I have to set the MenuSuite password to off for advanced?
Because I don't know the password

To use LazY Puppy's SFS P.L.U.S. there is no need to use the menu suite. Menus suite is only for working on the menu and the user modes. However: password is LazYPuppy2. It is mentioned at the LazY Puppy Thread's first page.

Quote:
Using the sfs pet to sfs it gives this error code

'tar -xf spotify-0.8.4.10329695.tar.gz' failed in
/root with error code 2.

This could be a result of doing it on a FAT or FAT32 partition. For small .pet files do it in RAM, for big files do it on a EXT partition (NTFS should work also - but I recommend EXT).

Quote:
I tried to take a screen shot but that one say it can not save it
to the screenshot dir at mydocuments.

What application did you use to make screenshot?

Quote:
My Net book only have 1GB and that process needed more?

Usually 1GB should be enough RAM for files sized up to 100MB (relates on what you have already loaded). For bigger files do it on a EXT partition (read above again).

Quote:
Ooops am I supposed to remaster Lazy 003 before I use sfs PLUS?

NO. NO. NO.

You don't have to remaster LazY Puppy to use SFS P.L.U.S. Only reason to remaster LazY Puppy is: you want to have some new created RunScripts in the system for the use without a save file. Just for this use do a remaster (what I recommend instead of using a save file). But you can use it exactly the same way using a save file.

Quote:
Sorry I am very poor at reading much text and to remember what to do.
I drown in all the details and don't remember them.

I'm a poor writer of text, so it's needed to remember either the information given to you or the post wherein the information was given. Use bookmarks of your browser or (as I do) use a notepad (text file) to save links etc.

To learn the SFS P.L.U.S. thing
I will upload a .pet for you (and other users),
that would work in LazY and Lucid as well.

Does that mean it works without having to remaster that os?

Yes.

Again (to make sure it's not getting lost): You don't have to remaster LazY Puppy to use SFS P.L.U.S. Only reason to remaster LazY Puppy is: you want to have some new created RunScripts in the system for the use without a save file. Just for this use do a remaster (what I recommend instead of using a save file). But you can use it exactly the same way using a save file.

I hope I did not overseen any question.

Note:

The .pet files for learning SFS P.L.U.S. are uploaded in the other thread.

Edit:

So the best would be if you make a good linux version of Spotify
as the one you did for Dpup Exprimo as I remember???

Spotify SFS is uploaded to mediafire http://www.mediafire.com/?4ihmr67hs9uoaew and, NO, I did NOT make the Spotify for Dpup Exprimo.

Thanks. I am too active in your threads so I will slow down
and look into this later.

Just now I use lupu528-005 and a Spotify pet instead
due to the shut down problem with sfs. Not your fault
it is the makers of Spotify that has added behind the screen
programs that work like a kind of shared servers so
each computer with spotify is the server sort of.
that is why they can load that music that fast.

Like seeding in Torrent and the pet manage to shut down
this server while the sfs fail to shut down it so it is impossible
to get it going again because it never shut down.

So I have to work around it by using pet instead for sfs.

Your SFS Plus worked good with Firefox

Hi.

In the German forum we have reached a state that could be called: finished or mission accomplished. Very Happy

The last two problems are solved (to get local printer and network printer to run and work), thanks to a post by rcrsn51 in the German forum. Cool

So, LazY Puppy 2.0.2 Final Build 0.0.3, will now be used as OS by a German Teacher for education in CNC and Programs like EMC2, QCAD (and some stuff like that) at the Realschule Lemgo, in Germany. LazY Puppy: a Puppy OS for Schools, now.

This is the result of fifteen (15) months of constantly research and hard work. Eight ( 8 ) months have been spent to the LazY Puppy SFS P.L.U.S. and stuff that comes around at this time, like the LazY Remaster Suite and the LazY Puppy boot options etc.pp.

Sometimes working 40 hours in a row (and sometimes some more) without any sleep and then, after this, unable to work for two days (just sleep, eat & watch TV or listen to music).

It was designated in the German forum as: "One of the first Puppies that comes with really new functions and not just only a new name and wallpaper."

I'm proud a little and really glad about this current state of LazY Puppy, so, I just want to keep everyone informed.

Thanks.

Currently it is the downloadable version of LazY Puppy 2.0.2 Build 0.0.3 plus this PET for Update.

Then there is one more program to work out and some documentation stuff to release. After this all I will upload Build 0.0.4. I think, it will also be a bit smaller in its size.

I have made a request to a forums admin to get the German LazY Puppy thread "sticky", which is needed (imho) and wanted for the upcoming online documentation of LazY Puppy. Also, I'm convinced, we have now earned to get this German thread sticky, after this hard and 15 months long work to build this LazY Puppy.

I'm now (on tomorrow) in my "LazY Puppy Holidays" and will return next year. I will then continue my work and maybe at the end of Feb. 2012 a Build 0.0.4 will be ready for download.

Greetings

RSH

Wow. That was really fast. The German LazY Puppy thread is sticky now! Very Happy

Hello All

I did a manual frugal install of Lazy 202-en-003 to an ntfs partition on the hd of my old Toshiba laptop (800MHz 320MB). I have XP and a number of Puppys including 528-005, Slacko 54, and Precise 541 nop on this drive. I boot these using grub which is on a small ext3 partition. This works well. I also have the same Puppys on a usb flash drive with one fat32 partition and I boot them with grub4dos. After booting Lazy for the first time and making a save file I get a problem on the second boot. The shutdown buttons don't work. I can shutdown with ctrl-alt-bksp then poweroff. I have also found the timed shutdown works. Have tried with ext2 and ext3 save files. This is only a problem with the the usb drive. I wonder if you have any ideas as to what could cause this and perhaps a solution?

Regards,

Ken.

Hello Ken.

If you do install on ntfs partition and do use a save file this can cause problems if the ntfs partition is fragmented. To install on ntfs and create a save file on ntfs it is recommended to use windows "defrag" application at first (don't know its name). I do use generally USB Stick formatted to FAT32.

No one has ever posted shutdown problems on LazY Puppy build 002 or even build 003 - except a user who has installed a shutdown gui and did crush the LazY Puppy shutdown gui from that install.

Sorry to hear that.

What did you use for shutdown? Menu, Wbar Icon?

Would you please tell me the results after the recommnded work on the ntfs is done and LazY Puppy is installed again?

Thanks.

Hello RSH

Thanks for your reply. I do not have a problem with the shutdown on the ntfs partition on my hd. The shutdown works flawlessly. I have defraged this hd but as I rarely use the copy of XP on it does not get fragmented quickly and as I said Lazy shuts down with no problems. The problem occurs when booting from a flash drive formated as fat32. This drive has only the four versions of Puppy previously mentioned plus grub4dos. All other versions of puppy shutdown as normal. With Lazy after first boot the shutdown works (I used the wbar icon). On pressing the button the dialog box appears and if I press the shutdown button the shutdown procedure starts and I am given the option to make a savefile. I have tried both ext2 and ext3 and various sizes of savefiles. However on next boot all seems well. My personal settings have been saved etc. However when I try to shutdown and press the wbar icon nothing happens. This is also the case with the icon in the tray and the menu. If I choose timed shutdown and set it to a minute this appears to work as after a short time a dialog box appears which counts down 30 seconds and the system shuts down as normal. I thought that this had something to do with the savefile on the flash drive. However I have also tried a copy of the working savefile from the hd but when this is transferred to the flashdrive shutdown still does not work. I have also tried booting a number of different machines from the flashdrive. All seemed to boot up as normal but again shutdown does not work. I hope this better explains the problem.

Regards,

Ken.
