Slacko 533, frugal, lenovo laptop
I am using transmission to download torrents and my save area is sda5 because I thought this would be outside the puppy save file area. However, of course this area has to be mounted, so will be mounted at /mnt which I assume is understood by puppy to be inside its save file area - because my save file keeps getting full.
I think it must be something I am misunderstanding about the way the save file works, as I keep on increasing it and it keeps on getting full. I have not added anything else (apart from these torrent downloads) either.
Could some kind soul please explain how I can stop my save file being registered as full please?
Thanks
Paul

hi ocpaul20
in transmissions preferences, where you set the download folder /mnt/sda5 there is also another option 'keep incomplete torrent in' folder, which also needs to be set to /mnt/sda5

Thanks for your reply. However, I dont seem to have that option. Under Edit->Preferences, I only have the one entry box which asks for destination folder. Cannot see it on the individual downloads either, maybe it is hiding somewhere else...?

For me Transmission sometimes eat my savefile even though that I have placed the Downloads outside savefile. It is weird thing, because there isnt any big files in savefile when I try to locate them, but the savefile is still eaten up. I remember Lobster reported that problem also about 1-2 years ago.
I am not sure if it is Transmission version spesific problem. It has happened to me in my dpup exprimo builds. But only sometimes. Usually the downloading has gone ok with several downloads until the savefile mysteriously has been eaten. It has been the end of that savefile.
Sorry that I cant help with your problem more.

i just tried on slacko 5.3 torrenting a big iso and didn't get the same problem. but as pemasu said, some people have had problems with transmission in the past.

Hi,
Using the Large Files Finder pet (via right-click) [see link] would presumably aid identification of any files for deletion before saving - even if it may not help resolve the problem?

My regards
