Sylpheed with Hotmail certificate problem

#1 Post by liro »

When I first started using Sylpheed for my POP email accounts, I was getting "SSL certificate verify failed" errors, which I eventually solved by following the instructions (more or less) on this page: http://www.melvilletheatre.com/articles ... index.html

Since then, I've had no such problems... until a few days ago when I started to get these same certififcate failed errors again with my Hotmail account. I've scoured Google for information about this (like a new Hotmail certificate or something) but have found nothing. This is the error box that appears: http://img152.imageshack.us/img152/8249/61107946.jpg

Does anyone know how I can fix this? Thanks.

PS. I'm guessing I just need to download some new certificate and install it using the method explained in the first link... but I have no idea what this new certificate is.

Okay, I've managed to solve this!

Googling about some more, I found out that this new certificate is called "Corp.STS Certificate" (or something) which I downloaded from here: https://corp.sts.microsoft.com/Onboard/CertRenewal.html

I then extracted the corp_sts_2014.cer file, renamed it to corp_sts_2014.pem and put it in the root/.sylpheed-2.0/certs folder.

Finally I entered c_rehash ~/.sylpheed-2.0/certs/ into a console... and amazingly I got something to work.

Nice...

Oh dear... that actually only worked because I had already temporarily accepted the certificate and still had the same instance of Sylpheed open *doh*. So I'm still getting the same error message :(

Any ideas on how to fix this?
