Puppy on Acer Aspire 9412AWSMi Core Duo T2250 Network issues

#1 Post by archwndas »

Dear puppy gurus,
I have tried Puppy 2.02, 2.01 on an Acer Aspire 9412AWSMi
Core Duo T2250 1.73GHz. I had several issues with the network.
I run the scripts (WAG is off with 2.02 so I only tried 2.01 for wireless)
both for wireless and ethernet and there was no way I could connect
to the internet using DHCP. Unfortunately Puppy couldn't see the
ethernet adapter this laptop is using. I loaded all modules following
the ethernet script and still no luck. I googled and I 've noticed that
several other people who own that laptop had exactly the same
problems as me. I also tried SuSE 10.1 and Gentoo 2006.0
(live CD boot) and neither Ethernet not wireless could work.
The only Linux Distro which could bring my network connection
to life was UBUNTU. I didn't think highly of that distro a few days
ago, but it seems that it has excellent hardware support.
I am not the owner of that laptop so I cannot experiment
any longer. Not sooner than Christmas.

I decided to post this issue in case somebody owns such a laptop
and would like to try and see what can be done to enhance Puppy's
hardware compatibility.

Best wishes to all Puppy Users and especially to Barry who is working
hard on the T2 miracle.

Thank you Barry once again.
We do need T2.
