for a mid 2013 release
A well known asian 's' usb memory stick manufacturer is bringing out a series of sticks with the normal usb plug one end, but with a usb header socket the other end so it can be plugged directly into the motherboard.
So far, specs are that they will be usb3 and 32 and 2x32gig to start with. The physical size is about the same as a normal one is.
The only problem with using a motherboard plug up is you loose one of the two usb ports on the socket if it's only a 32gig stick, on the other hand you would have two independant devices in one with the 64gig module.
With usb3, maybe this is the start of the end of hard drives as there are also rumors coming out of china that 'they' are working on a 256gig stick. _________________ Mage2 in final Beta! http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=72565
