Dropbox setup disappears on reboot
Dropbox setup disappears on reboot
I have newly installed Lupu 520 on an old VIA Epia. Most is fine and I was happy to find a pet to install Dropbox.
However, when I reboot the connection to Dropbox disappears and I have to go thru the setup procedure again.
I assume there may be a way to fix this?
Thanks

right click on the file and rename it to just 'dropbox', (as i believe if there are spaces in the name it won't autostart)
then open /root/startup and drag and drop it there, choose the 'link relative' option
dropbox should now autostart

Hi again,
No autostart!
What do you think - should I move the files back into the disk that is automatically mounted / mount the disk where the files are? I don't know how to automatically mount disks - I will have to google on this ..
My files on Dropbox are shared with another dist on the same computer. This is why they sit on another partition.

Hi again,
I am back to square one, and I only have myself to blame. For some reason I checked if my video card was the best one and I was advised to try x-org high. I did, and on reboot Puppy hung completely and after having been googling on this unsuccessfully for hours I went back to one of my previous attempts at Puppy on the same computer - Wary 533.
OK - so I backtracked, downloaded following your isntructions, and now I can't open the Dropbox app!
I tried to get to it in the terminal but it refuses to be recognized.. This is what I get:
bash: Dropbox 1.1.43: command not found
The startmount app is up and running.
Now I will not mess around with the video settings and try to remain with Wary, but how do I open the Dropbox app????

hi bogsta ..
you might need to right click on it an choose 'permissions' then the 'a+x (Make executable/searchable)" option
after doing that left clicking on it should run it ..... that's if it works in wary,
edit: in wary i think that you'll need these two libs .....
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19554672/libdbu ... 4_i386.deb
and http://dl.dropbox.com/u/19554672/libdbu ... 1_i386.deb

hi bogsta,
i just tried it in a fresh wary and it worked for me , even without those two libs. it should work in most pups and solves the loss of settings bug you were getting.
this is a portable app and to run it in a terminal you need to open the folder that it's in, right click and choose 'window' then 'terminal here' thenor whatever you've renamed it to.
