Precise Puppy 5.4.3 (NON RETRO) Full install, single partition works well on
Toshiba Satellite Pro laptop
Intel® Celeron® 2.2GHz Processor
- 2 x 512 MB DDR RAM
- 80GB Hard Disk Drive
- DVD-ROM drive
- 14.1" TFT Display
3Com 3CRWE 154G72 wireless 11g PC card
BTW 5.4.3 Does not appear to suffer as readily from screen freezing as did Lucid Puppy 5.2.8.
All Good
However can not get live DVD of 5.4.3 (Non Retro) to boot up on my desktop
HP dc7700p Ultraslim Desktop
Intel R core Duo 6300 @ 1.86 GHz
3 x 1 GB DDR RAM
LAN connection
DVD Writer
Hangs. BTW 5.2.8 works very well ( from USB Flash boot)
Any ideas. TKS
BTW, at first trials, 5.4.3 live DVD appears to boot up on Fujitsu Si 1520 and HP Amilo Pro V3405. Both of these laptops have 2 x 1 GB RAM
Thanks, Puppy Newishbie

Precise 5.4.3
HPdc7700p desktop
Boot order in Bios = USB,Flash, DVD, HDD
Sorry by Live DVD "Hangs", I mean,
a) Picture of puppy, then Boot starts,
b) Loading drivers needed to access drives ........Done
c) Searching for puppy files ... In Pink "Puppy_Precise_5.4.3.sfs not found. Dropping out to initial-ramdisk console
d) #-
Thanks again.

Puppy sometimes has trouble booting off certain optical drives. Here is a workaround.
1. Put the three core Puppy files on a non-bootable flash drive - vmlinuz, initrd.gz and puppy_precise_5.4.3.sfs.
2. Boot off the CD with the flash drive plugged in. At the short initial pause, type

This is saying I think that it can't find th 5.4.3 main .sfs file so it cant load it . The name is strange to me too
I am using 5.4.2 and the file is called "puppy_precise_5.4.2.sfs" so maybe you just made a typo with capitals in it ?
It must have that file to boot properly so you must check the DVD to see if it is there and if it is then something must be corrupted in the download or afterwards so download it again or try rcrsn51's suggestion.
